Default Increase in Lockpick Droprate?

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the droprate of lockpicks? I've found 7 lockpicks in the past 2 hours. Normally i might get 1 in 2 hours.

pure luck / randomness
yesterday i got 3 black dyes in from killing 10 foes, before that it was months since i had a black dye and today its back to normal not a single black dye in sight
Concerning lockpicks i seem to have a normal rate every 50-100 kill or so i get one.

Haven't played in a while but the last week I have played 20 hours or so and I've not had one lockpick drop at all. (all in HM)

it's totally random from the point of the person playing the game.
Ecto droped from 3 consequitve mobs ... omg ... ecto drop increased incerdibly ! ...
no ecto from mobs during a full run ... omg ... the reduced the ecto drop rate ...!

My Derv got six picks earlier this week playing through 4 or 5 EotN missions (probably
3-4 hours). I thought it was a bit much to be a coincidence - even double-drop weekends aren't that noticeable. I guess it could be random luck though. *shrug*

I noticed a huge spike in the lockpick droprate a few hours ago too. I think since they ran out of clovers and ale, they tripled lockpicks instead.

must be the luck o' the irish

Though I must admit, I did get quite an abnormal amount of lockpicks today.. chances are it really is just coincidence..

FYI: most people have a distorted view of randomness. It's actually quite common for random events with low probabilities to cluster together. In a game environment, where things are determined by a "random" number generator of some kind, true randomness is hard to obtain, but quite a few RNG programs get close. I'm not sure which one GW uses, but it seems to be pretty good in my experience. So once again, don't be surprised when rare events cluster together, its known phenomenon in probability theory and doesn't indicate any change to the underlying probabilities.
